Project Description

Medias Painting LLC recently wrapped up a kitchen cabinet painting project in the Estates of Chancellorsville neighborhood in Fredericksburg, VA. The homeowner wanted something bold and custom, and Compass Blue delivered just that. We repainted the full set of cabinets in this 500 sq ft kitchen, using a high-end Renner system for both primer and top coat. Our crew removed the cabinet doors and drawers, degreased and sanded all surfaces, then sprayed both primer and finish using professional equipment. The cabinet painting project took just three days, and the kitchen now feels brighter, cleaner, and way more modern.

Background/Story:

Gary D. was already familiar with our workโ€”we previously stained his large screened porch and left a strong impression. When it came time to update his kitchen, he reached out again. His house is over 5,500 sq ft, and the kitchen was custom-built but still had the original cabinet color. He wanted something more stylish but didnโ€™t want to replace the entire set. After we talked it through, kitchen cabinet painting made the most sense. He chose Behrโ€™s Compass Blue, a bold and rich color, and trusted us to get it done right. We scheduled it quickly and got to work.

Scope of Services:

  • Cabinet Removal: Detached all doors and drawers for separate spraying
  • Surface Cleaning: Degreased and deglossed with M-1 SurfPrep Deglosser
  • Sanding: Smoothed all surfaces for better adhesion
  • Priming: Sprayed Renner White Primer 2K with YC-M404 Catalyst
  • Top Coat Application: Applied Rennerโ€™s High Durability 2K Pigmented Top Coat in Behr Compass Blue
  • Final Reinstallation: Reinstalled all cabinet components, leveled and adjusted

Paints/Products Used:

  • Primer: Renner White Primer 2K + YC-M404 Catalyst
  • Top Coat: Renner High Durability Pigmented Top Coat 2K
  • Color: Behr Compass Blue MQ5-54
  • Cleaner: M-1 SurfPrep Professional Strength Deglosser

Results:

This kitchen went from builder-basic to high-end custom in just three days. The blue finish stands out, but the smooth, professional spray job is what really makes it pop. Gary loved the look and the durability of the finish, and he left another positive review about his experience. Heโ€™s already lined up his next project with us, and weโ€™re ready for it.
